Position Overview:

 

Our client has a 6 month contract with  possibility of extension for a Junior to Intermediate Network Administrator.

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities:
 

 Network & Security Operations

  • Maintain up-to-date baselines for network & security configuration and operations of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.).
  • Maintain operational configurations of all in-place network & security solutions as per the established baselines.
  • Monitor all in-place security solutions for efficient and appropriate operations.
  • Review logs and reports of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.). Interpret the implications of that activity and devise plans for appropriate resolution.
  • Participate in investigations into problematic activity.
  • Identify opportunities for network growth and scalability with recommended courses of action to support the current and future goals of the organization
  • Participate in the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.
  • Provide on-call support for end users for all in-place security solutions.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances
  • Practice network asset management, including lifecycle maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.  Manage asset maintenance and subscription renewals, patching, capacity and standards.

 

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT network & security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
  • Recommend additional network & security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security.
  • Perform the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new network & security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise’s security documents specifically.
  • Works closely with project teams to assists in identifying security risks and determining the appropriate engagement in the project lifecycle.

  • Define and communicate policies and standards for acquiring, implementing, and operating new network & security systems, equipment, software, and other technologies

IT Policies

  • Works with business and IT groups to develop and implement best practice polices, standards and guidelines on network, security, risk and compliance management 
  • Conducts continuous assessments of current IT security practices and systems and identifying areas for improvement

 

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • A university degree or college diploma in computer science.
  • 3-10 years of progressive Information Technology experience with 2+ years of direct experience as an IT Network Administrator
  • In-depth experience with all networking concepts and best practices for core and edge networks, LAN/WAN and security
  • Certifications in Cisco networking and security solutions (CCNA, CCNP or other)
  • Familiarity with Cloud/SaaS applications, Azure and M365
  • A collaborative work style with strong communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical people.
