Position Overview:

Our client has a full time/permanent role for an Intermediate or Senior Systems Administrator. You will be responsible for providing technical and thought leadership in technologies such as cloud, storage, virtualization, data protection.

You will focus on achieving excellence in system uptime and performance, while also being a key contributor in developing a clear roadmap towards automation, orchestration, and hybrid cloud integration. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of traditional infrastructure, with a good understanding of cloud platforms. They will be looked upon to mentor junior team members and build business partnerships through a positive, team-focused attitude while exceling in a fast paced environment.


Specific Accountabilities and Required Knowledge:

  • VMware virtualization utilizing technologies such as DRS, SRM, HA
  • NetApp FAS and E-series storage (SnapMirror, SnapVault, CIFS, NFS, SAN)
  • Data Protection administration and optimization (Cohesity experience preferred)
  • Active Directory, ADFS, enterprise password management, RBAC, and other Identity Management technologies
  • Windows Server administration and deployment expertise, including PowerShell
  • Effective management of DHCP, DFS, GPO, LDAP, Certificate services, and DNS
  • Solution Design experience, including the ability to produce quality documentation
  • An understanding of agile delivery models
  • Act as subject matter expert in the design and review of new systems, services, and hardware
  • Ability to capacity plan for effective budget cycles and service delivery
  • Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server environment
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other IT and business functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate systems to meet business demands
  • Contribute to and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server security
  • Conduct research on disruptive technologies, as required, to determine the potential business benefit
  • Assist with Service desk escalations, as required
  • Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures
  • Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.


Additional Desirable Knowledge:

  • SolarWinds Orion monitoring
  • Azure IaaS and PaaS
  • SQL Server
  • Microsoft O365 collaboration products (email, Skype, SharePoint, etc)
  • Oracle PaaS and IaaS experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of the following technologies: MS SQL 05/08/12, Skype for Business, F5/Kemp, VMware, Fiber Switching, MS Active Directory, LDAP and domain management, Windows Server 2008/2012 and newer versions as released, MS 0365 platform administration, MS Azure platform provisioning and administration


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10  years of experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing complex on-prem and cloud environments
  • University degree or  diploma and equivalent experience in the field of computer science or management information systems or related discipline
  • Experience working in, or an understanding of oilfield services, would be an asset
