WHY TEAMS?
See 'why' Teams is always the right choice.
As you know, AMTRA is 'all things' Teams. We live and breathe Teams and its our mission to make sure you understand 'Why Teams,' rather than just the 'what' and 'how.'
To help, we've come up with 12 decision trees to help you see why Teams is best compared to other tools and platforms. As well as why you should do things a certain way in Teams, while adhering to best practices, and considering there are likely many other ways to get the same job done.

Understanding the WHY
Decision Trees for Teams
Decision Tree #1: Why would I use Teams?
Sure, there are lots of platforms that can do some of the stuff that Teams can, but are there any that can do it all? Are there any that can solve the day to day pains and challenges you have trying to get your job done? To date, we haven't found any! Is there anything Teams can't do? So far, we have only found one, read on to find out:

Decision Tree #2: Should I create a new Team?
Ever heard of "Teams Sprawl"? With out strict policies or helping people understand what warrants the creation of a new Team, what should be reserved for a channel or what should be left off of Teams entirely, you are going to learn first hand what it! Teams sprawl can create a bad user experience and create headaches for IT to manage.
Decision Tree #3: Should I use a reaction, an emoji or a gif?
Emojis, reactions and gif are very common in texting and other forms of social media, should how we use them in our work, Teams environment? The simple answer is probably, but there are still appropriate applications for all three, use this decision tree to help you decide the most appropriate way to respond, in a variety of scenarios.
Decision Tree #4: Why should I use Private Chat vs a Public Channel for Conversations?
While both private chat and public channels give you the ability to connect and chat with a co-worker about a topic, share news, make decisions and more, many people still default to private chat. Don't do it! By keeping everything in private chat you could be creating more work for yourself down the road. And don't forget, private chats really aren't actually private, just like company email they can be read by IT admins.
Decision Tree #5: Should I use an urgent notification or an announcement?
Urgent notifications and the announcement feature in Microsoft Teams are great tools to help news and important or time sensitive information be seen by the right people, but overuse them and over time they won't be as effective. Today's decision tree will help you understand why you would use one feature vs the others in a variety of scenarios.
Decision Tree #6: Should this document live in Teams?
Yes, Teams is awesome and it is tempting to let it become your default for everything, but that isn't always wise. For document storage, consider what should absolutely be in Teams vs. what is better suited for OneDrive or SharePoint. That said, aren't we glad we are moving document storage out of email?
Decision Tree #7: Should I create a new channel?
Going from no channels to many channels isn't always the right way to go. Too many channels can be confusing and leave people unsure of where to post or where to get the information they need. Organic channel growth is best, but regardless of your approach make sure that you are asking yourself the right questions before you create a new one.
Decision Tree #8: Should I create a channel meeting?
Meeting in a channel is a great way to keep all pre, during, and post meeting chat and content together, but it also invites everyone who belongs in the channel to join the meeting. This can be a great thing, or make your meeting bigger (and more expensive) than you had intended. Use this decision tree to understand all the things you should consider before you book that channel meeting.
Decision Tree #9: Why would I use Microsoft Stream in Teams?
We realize that the real question should probably be, why wouldn't you use Microsoft Stream in Teams, but for those that aren't using it, or using it to it's fullest capabilities, it is time to start. The power of the deep search, analytics, transcription services and more gets you the information you are needing faster and allows you to collaborate more effectively. Sound good? Decision Tree #10: Should I send a document link or an attachment?
Whether you are worried about version control, saving time and effort, document management or losing important files, sending a document link instead of an attachment isn't just a best practice it is the only practice you should be following! Even with external contributors, with the right permissions, a link is always the right call.
Decision Tree #11: Should my company consider implementing formal governance?
Some companies are ok managing the wild, wild west, but others prefer some law and order. In your Teams environment we would most definitely recommend the latter. The management (or mismanagement) can have big implications due to how integrated it is across the Office 365 platform, and could quickly impact productivity, user adoption, data loss, security risks and more.
Decision Tree #12: We have deployed Teams, are we done?
So you thought you could turn on Teams and be done did you? While it may work in the short term, without the right support for your people and keeping our environment healthy, over time your Teams experience will degrade, often quickly. Give us a call to discuss how to help you across your entire Teams journey from deployment to ACM, from management to custom solutions, we've got you covered.
